  • If your baby is circumcised, give him a sponge bath (not a tub bath) until the area is healed.
  • Avoid using pillows and blankets in a newborn's crib, they could suffocate the baby.
  • To avoid back problems, lift your baby with your knees bent.
  • Look for durable board books with bright contrasting colors, especially red, for your baby.
  • Avoid baby toys with small pieces that could break off and pose a choking hazard.
  • When going off birth control pills, doctors advise waiting three cycles before trying to get pregnant.
  • Ask your doctor about a flu shot if you will be in your second or third trimester in winter.
  • Avoiding greasy, spicy foods will prevent heartburn during pregnancy.
  • To ease heartburn during pregnancy, chew a stick of non-peppermint gum.
  • Avoid raw egg foods like Caesar salad dressing if pregnant.
